Edward Bencini studied Architecture and Civil Engineering at the University of Malta from where he graduated in 1971. He became a partner in the firm Raniolo & Bencini in 1975 and worked on numerous major projects in Malta and in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In 1987 he established the firm Bencini & Associates and has been responsible for the architectural and structural design, co-ordination, and execution of several landmark major projects in Malta. These include the Portomaso / Hilton Hotel & Marina Project, the Sellum Residential Village, the Radisson Blue Hotel, the former Imgarr Hotel, the Cottonera Waterfront Regeneration Project, and the Pender Place & Mercury House mixed use project amongst others.
Edward was the President of the Chamber of Architects and Civil Engineers (KTP) in the periods 1979 to 1982 and 1985 to 1987, and the Chairman of the Housing Authority between 1987 and 1990.
